Let's Talk About Temptation Resort in Cancun!

Updated: Apr 28, 2023

We have visited Temptation Resort in Cancun multiple times over the past three years. This is our review of the resort, as well as some insights into our experiences. We also include a few tips that we've discovered along the way.

“The social aspect at TTR is amazingly different compared to any other resort we've been to. People are genuinely friendly, happy, and very welcoming. Within the first two hours of getting in the pool, we met and got to know at least 10 really nice couples..”

Let's Talk About Temptation Resort in Cancun!

Our first trip to Temptation Resort (also known by the TTR abbreviation) took place in February of 2019. We were not in the Lifestyle at that time, but we were somewhat curious and also liked the lively atmosphere that TTR offered. We read that the daily pool parties were crazy and fun and we loved the idea of dressing up for nightly themed parties.

Day One: The length of our stay was 5 nights and our trip straddled Valentines Day. February has always been a great time to visit Cancun and we figured that the resort would be full and extra lively due to the holiday. The first day of our trip was a Tuesday and we arrived at the resort around noon. We were both a bit nervous when we checked in, but also very excited at the same time. Our room was not ready at check in, so we dropped off our bags, changed into our swimwear, and went to the main restaurant to grab some lunch. Our first tip to share is that we always carry a swimsuit, a shirt or cover up, and a pair flip flops in our carry-on bag. This way we can change and enjoy the pool if our room isn't ready or if there are issues with lost or delayed luggage.

The main restaurant is on the lower level of the resort and looks out across the main party pool. We selected a table right next to the window so we could observe the pool area and get a feel for the poolside games that were already underway. We new the resort was topless optional, but we weren't sure what percentage of guests would actually be topless. We quickly saw that most of the ladies were topless and that the crowd overall was very attractive. We were eager to start having some fun, so we quickly finished our lunch and then headed out to the pool. The main pool is often referred to as the party pool and is located at the base of the two main resort towers. There's a second pool called the quiet pool and it is located in a secluded section of the resort. The quiet pool is very nice and peaceful, but typically empty because 99% of the guests stay at the party pool all day. The party pool has a swim up bar inside the pool and a walk-up bar on the pool deck. The pool is surrounded by deck chairs and cabanas, but we noticed that most people stay in the pool all day and rarely use the chairs. We used a chair to hold our towels and pool bag, but we got into the pool as soon as we arrived each morning and stayed in the pool all afternoon. Poolside games startup around noon each day and are hosted by a team called the Playmakers. The Playmakers are a collection of sexy entertainment staff that do an amazing job of engaging the crowd and keeping the energy high. There's also a DJ that plays music throughout the afternoon and the playmakers host sexy games and competitions that are naughty, fun, and guaranteed to make you laugh. A great way to describe the party pool atmosphere is topless spring break for adults!

When we entered the pool on day one, the poolside games were already in progress and there were four ladies competing in the challenge. We don't want to give away any spoilers for first timers, but needless to say it was very sexy and entertaining. We slipped into the pool off to the side to make sure we wouldn't be pulled into the game and waded over to the bar. We ordered drinks and then enjoyed watching the rest of the game. After the games were over, we quickly started chatting with people and introducing ourselves. The social aspect at TTR is amazingly different compared to any other resort we've been to. People are genuinely friendly, happy, and very welcoming. Within the first two hours of getting in the pool, we met and got to know at least 10 really nice couples. This continued each day and by the time we left on Sunday we felt like we knew almost everyone there.

When the sun starts to set in the late afternoon, a lot of people head back to their rooms to start getting ready for dinner and others head to the hot tub to continue the party. The hot tub is definitely a lot of fun, but it can get fairly crowded sometimes. We were a bit tired from traveling that morning and spending the day in the sun, so we went back to the check-in desk, grabbed our room keys and bags, and then headed to our room to unpack and take a nap. After our nap, we got dressed for dinner and walked to the Italian restaurant. We put our names on the list and then sat at the bar and had a couple cocktails while we waited. Another great thing about TTR is that you can dress up super sexy for dinner. Men typically wear nice pants and polo or button down shirts. However, the ladies steal the show and wear amazingly sexy dresses that typically wouldn't be worn outside the resort. Being able to dress sexy and be fully accepted by everyone was truly amazing and a huge turn on for both of us. Dinner was fantastic and then we headed back to the room to get changed for the theme night party.

Theme Night Parties - Each night the resort puts on a show that aligns with the nightly party theme. Professional dancers, acrobats, and entertainers dress up in sexy outfits and perform for all of the guests. The main party area is located just outside the lobby and is located on an elevated terrace that overlooks the party pool. There's an elevated dance floor in the middle of the terrace and this is where the entertainers perform their show. The shows typically start around 10:00 PM and last about 30 minutes. When the show ends, the DJ starts the party and the fun begins! We love to dress up for theme events, especially when we can dress as naughty and sexy and we want. The themes for each night are posted on the resort website, so we did a lot of planning for our outfits. We weren't sure how risque we could actually be, so we picked outfits that could start conservative and then be modified to be more revealing if we wanted to push the needle a bit. We dressed fairly conservative the first night, but quickly realized that we were in the minority. The outfits ranged from sexy Halloween style costumes to see through lingerie. Some people had just panties or sexy bottoms and only stickers or pasties covering their breasts. Others kept on their sexy attire from dinner and never changed into a themed outfit. After that night, we felt we had the freedom to do whatever we desired, so we ramped up the sexiness and never looked back. We had an amazing first night and it felt like we knew a lot of people because we got a chance to meet and connect with them at the pool earlier that day.

The Rooms - Rooms are always an important factor when planning a vacation. Some people put strong emphasis on having a really nice room with specific amenities or located in specific areas, while others want the cheapest room possible and only view it as a place to sleep and take a shower. The great thing is that Temptation Resort offers a wide range of room types that satisfy everyone's preferences. We were unfamiliar with the rooms and locations for our first visit, so we booked a Trendy Garden room. Trendy Garden rooms are located in the buildings to the left and right of the main hotel tower and are typically the lowest priced room options available. Despite their lower price, the rooms are very nice and have the benefit of being in quieter areas of the property. This can be an advantage if you want to go to bed early while the nightly party is still raging. Also, the locations of the Trendy Garden rooms aren't a negative because the resort isn't a massive property and you can easily and quickly walk to anywhere on the property in 5 mins. We stayed in Trendy Garden rooms on two of our TTR trips and we enjoyed our rooms both times.

Another great room type that often gets overlooked is the Plush Jacuzzi room. These rooms are essentially the same size as the Trendy Garden rooms and located around the quiet pool area. However, they have a jacuzzi tub on the balcony that provides a lot of late night fun for a couple or with friends. The Jacuzzi's aren't super large, but big enough for 3 or 4 people comfortably or even more if everyone is getting cozy :). The tower also offers rooms with Jacuzzi tubs on the balcony. The tower room with a Jacuzzi is called Lush Tower. The other tower room category without a Jacuzzi is called Bash Tower. The rooms in both towers are very nice, spacious, and offer plenty of room for entertaining. The tower rooms also come with upgraded amenities and access to the tower pool located on the roof of the tower. We stayed in a Bash Tower room during one of our trips and really liked it. We were on a higher floor, so the people watching from our balcony at night was pretty hot. The resort also offers a few ocean front rooms in the quiet areas and a small number of master suites with extra living space and ocean front views. In our opinion the rooms are all great regardless of where you stay, but the garden and plush rooms definitely offer more value and are more quiet at night compared to the tower rooms. However, the tower rooms offer more living space, extra amenities, and convenient access to the main resort lobby and area. It really comes down to personal preference, but all of the rooms categories are great!

Food and Restaurants - The main dining room is located at the base of the resort towers and offers great views of the party pool area. Breakfast and lunch are served here during the day and they convert the dining room into two separate restaurants at night (Rain and Amores). The resort also sets up snack and gill stations at the pool during the day and typically offers nachos, tacos, burgers, and hot dogs. We often just grab a convenient burger or some tacos by the pool for lunch each day to avoid having to dry off and cover up to go into the seated dining area. At nighttime there are several nice restaurants available that feature a wide variety of cuisine types, including Italian, Seafood, Steak, and Asian. In addition to the these traditional restaurants, there's a very cool restaurant called She that offers a more sensual dining experience. We've dined at all of the restaurants on property and we've had great meals and experiences at each one. We've been to plenty of resorts where the food was sub-par and in comparison, we really like the food quality and selection at Temptation.

Lifestyle vs. Non-Lifestyle - This is a topic that often comes up when talking with others about Temptation Resort. TTR is definitely lifestyle friendly and many of the couples that travel there are in the lifestyle in some form or fashion. However, there's also a lot of couples there that are not in the Lifestyle and just want to be at a resort that offers a lively atmosphere, topless pool options, and sexy theme nights. We were not in the lifestyle when we first visited and we've met tons of great people on every trip that are not in the lifestyle. Whether you are in the lifestyle or not, TTR is a fun and welcoming place where you can have fun, be free, and meet a lot of amazing people. We were respectfully welcomed into the TTR community by everyone from day one and that's one of the main reasons that we keep going back.

Tips and Tricks

Tip 1: We already mentioned this tip earlier, but we are going to list here again. We recommend bringing a bathing suit, a shirt or cover up, and flip-flops or sandals in your carry-on bag. This allows you change into your pool wear and enjoy the pool if your room isn't ready when you arrive or if you have issues with your luggage.

Tip 2: A lot of people (us included) bring Yeti style cups to use at the pool. We like to use the medium sized Yeti's so they are not too heavy to hold while standing and talking to people at the pool. Some people use just a lid and drink from the cup and others use a lid with a rubber straw. Either option works and the cups help keep your drinks cold and the lids keep the pool water from splashing into your drinks!

Tip 3: Put your name on your cup or wear a necklace that has your name on it. A lot of people get stickers with their names and stick them on their cups. Others make or order name necklaces and wear them at the pool. Either option works great and it helps when you meet new people and it helps you to remember their names when you run into them again.

Tip 4: The bars at the resort do not have energy drink mixers like red bull or monster. If you like to use these drinks as mixers, you will need to bring them with you to the bar and provide them to the bartender when he or she makes your drink. They do sell them at the resort gift shop, but they are expensive onsite. We often bring a 4 or 6 pack with us in our luggage and then keep them in our mini-fridge. There are also convenience stores just across the street from the resort that you can walk to and buy them there.

Tip 5: Bring a set of suction hooks to hang up your wet clothes or wet items on your balcony. You can find suction hooks on Amazon fairly cheaply and we never travel without them. They essentially stick to the glass of your balcony door and provide a secure way to hang up your items. It can be windy sometimes and laying clothing over the chairs or table on the balcony often end up with your items on the ground or even blown over the railing. You can also use these same hooks in your shower to hang up towels or other bath items.

Tip 6: If you want group dining reservations, try to make them as soon as the restaurant opens and starts accepting reservations. This often means that someone in the party has to walk to the restaurant around 5:00 or 6:00 and put in the reservation request for the group. If you wait until later, you may not be able to get a table for the group.
